SELLING OUT FOR A CHANCE TO FIT IN

Hello my fellow Truth-seekers. I’d like to share some thoughts with you regarding the wisdom of the saints who have gone on before. Today we can clearly see the repercussions of not heeding their wisdom, the wisdom of God’s Word.

Old saints of the holiness church used to say that people of God are “not to look like the world, talk like the world, or act like the world.” Since we are a peculiar people (1 Peter 2:9), they took this seriously and did not change with every fad or fashion. They did not change their speech to pick up the slang of the day. And they did not allow their behavior in any situation to mimic that of those in darkness. Their difference in lifestyle shed light on the God they served instead of bringing shame to His name the way we do today. Their lifestyle was a witness before they ever opened their mouth. Nowadays, sadly, this is not the case.

I have watched as people who claim to be holy speak in the style of the day; I am always a little disappointed when I hear old church folk using today’s slang. The manner of the church today is steeped in worldliness, and many professing Kristians fail to see anything wrong with anything. As I watch things unfold I hear God’s Word, “put a difference between clean and unclean,” and “be ye Holy for I AM Holy.”

We live in a society that hates true holiness, and many of those who profess to belong to God, hate holiness as well. We chomp at the bit to devour everything the world says we should do and accept. This is wrong. We can easily look and see just where this has led and is leading us.

Now it seems that many church folk haven’t a clue what modesty even is, as we wear clothing that is too short, too tight, too revealing and unbecoming or anyone claiming to be representatives of Christ. Men are not exempt from immodesty today, as many choose to wear outfits so tight in order to accentuate the bodies they so glorify.

A woman in male attire is not new. Sometimes, back in the day, women wore them for certain types of work.  However, it was not acceptable attire for public life. Its acceptance by the world was born out of rebellion. Regardless of the world embracing the practice, I believe there is a reason God said cross dressing was not to be a practice of His people.

This is a subject that, apparently, no one in the church really wants to address. Since the church choked on the legalism attack 30+ years ago, pastors clamped their mouths shut on many issues, and the church as grown worldlier with every passing year. If we truly love God why do we want to be so closely associated with the world?

Just as pants on women was birthed out of rebellion now there is a push to get more and more men into skirts and dresses. What are we going to say when the men in our churches want to wear this attire? We can surely expect this, for why would worldly minded men be any different than worldly minded women when it comes to the issue of attire? Satan is patient, and just as we “adjusted to” and “excused away” the idea of women wearing things pertaining to men, the day will come (I dare say is here) when we will see men in things pertaining to women become “normal.”

I believe satan slapped that muzzle on the church years ago for the purpose of the mess we are seeing now. He has hand fed the church on his worldly delicacies until we are now stuffed too tight to see straight. He has bought so many of us that we cannot say anything about the sin and shame dancing blatantly before our eyes; many of us don’t even recognize it!  What’s in store for us in the coming days? Heaven only knows. But I believe we, the church, needs to repent.

We need to repent to God for giving in to our desires to be like the world. Repent for refusing to deny ourselves anything in order to fit in on our jobs and in our schools (Mark 8:34). Repent for failing to accept Christ and His Way as more than enough to satisfy. Repent for desiring this World above the one God has prepared (1 John 2:15-17). Repent for selling out in order to fit in. Repent for selling our birthright for the world’s bowl of beans.

If we are going to follow Christ then we must break ties with the world. We are no longer going to be able to hide our allegiance. The pressure is on. Where do we stand? Where do you stand? Choose today whom you will serve.  If you choose the Lord then drop the hands of the world, grab hold of Christ with BOTH hands and hang on. We are in for quite a ride from here on out.

Until next time,

Juanita Deloris

Actually men have worn “skirts” (Kilts) and Tunics for millenia, but I do understand what you are saying. 🙂

This article us so timely and right on point. I just preached a sermon regarding the issue of addressing “Tabu” at our convocation (Mt. Sinai Holy Church of America, Inc). Pastors & saints refuse to mention “sin, sanctification, separation from the world, etc., etc.. These are the last days, these so-called people of God have a “Form of Godliness but, they are denying the power thereof. They have fallen away from their steadfastness, departed from the faith, giving heed to doctrines of demons & seducing spirits, lovers of themselves more than lovers of God. Sad sad sad times we are living in. Thank you Juanita for taking a Stand for Righteousness and addressing the rebellion of God’s people. Yes, women wearing pants and anything pertaining to a man is abominable in God’s sight. I studied the history of pants (trousers). They were originally designed for men’s wear. In the 1940’s thru 1960’s no female wore pants except mannish women who adorned themselves in their husband’s, son’s or brother’s pants.
Doing the earlier years, the president of Mexico would have women who wore man’s pants were jailed.
Keep the good works up. Hopefully, some people will wake up, seek God so they may come out of this darkness and enter into the Light.

    2. Hello!
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. I think that believers should always check out whatever it is they want pick up from the world. I am like this, if God likes it I love it. We are not the ones who gets to the decided what God likes, however. We had better be sure God actually likes it. When it comes to a lot of this stuff church folk are doing nowadays I ain’t so sure….the lines of demarcation have been just about erased now.
      God bless you!
