Hello all! I would like to tell you about a wonderful Bible study on the book of Philippians. I was given a preview copy of this study for review.
I have been using this study, Philippians Bible Study Workbook by Beka Evington, for morning devotion, and I really like it. It is different in that it does not contain the amount of commentary that most studies include. Instead Ms. Evington uses prompts and minimal commentary, allowing the student to focus more on what the Bible passage has to say; I love that. With most of the Bible workbooks I’ve tried (and I have not tried them all) I tend to get bored before completing them. I usually feel that I am just reading the commentary and filling in the blank without needing to actually dig into the Word; not so here. This, however, is not its only selling point.
Have you ever tried to work your way through a Bible study workbook only to suffer the guilt of falling behind? Have you ever fallen behind and tried to catch up, only to kick yourself because you were unable to get back on track? Taking this into consideration, the author breaks the book of Philippians into small sections that allow you to work at your own pace. You can take your time and work your way through the book of Philippians and actually digest Paul’s instructions. There is no pressure. Want to spend a little more time on a section? Feel free! Have time to complete a section or three? Go ahead; your pace is yours!
Although you can go through this study whenever you like, I highly recommend it for your devotional time. You will have a passage to read, think about, and break down. You will be able to write a favorite verse from the passage and note why you chose it as your favorite. By the end of this study you will have a fine collection of verses to hide in your heart and mind (not so subtle hint to use these verses for Scripture memory 🙂 ).
I cannot recommend this study enough. In my experience with Bible studies, it is unique, easy to follow, and a joy to work through. Take the plunge and study your way through the book of Philippians. The cost is $7 @ Amazon.com and well worth it. I hope you will give it a try!
